Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
Living in close proximity to the Don Valley River has given me the opportunity to fall in love with this natural treasure in the heart of the Toronto. After discovering the severity of garbage and pollution in the valley, I became involved in its clean up. Since 2013, I have acted as site coordinator for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup removing garbage from an illegal dumping site along the trails. I continue to participate in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and other events in the community that help to clean up the Don Valley trails and other areas of the city.
Habitat for Humanity
In 2013, I began to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, which provides a means of applying theoretical knowledge to construction sites while helping to build a home for a family in need.  It also gives me the opportunity to coordinate with a team to successfully work towards a goal.  I continue to volunteer for HFH builds and fund raising events.
GBC Dean’s Ambassador Program
While at George Brown College, I joined the Dean’s Ambassador Program, which allowed me to volunteer at the school for various events. Through this program, I have gained more leadership and networking experience.
Student Leadership Academy
2013 and 2014
The Student Leadership Academy at George Brown College allowed me to get involved as a volunteer at school and community events.  I was invited to participate in the annual Student Leadership Retreat, which is a three-day seminar for training and developing leadership skills. I was invited to return to the retreat the following year as a Team Captain.
Playing for Keeps leadership training seminars
I participated in the 2013 Playing for Keeps leadership seminars, which took place over two weekends over the summer.  These seminars gave me the opportunity to improve my leadership skills while developing skills in civic engagement, event planning and communication.  As a requirement of the seminars, I was responsible for organizing and supervising a free neighbourhood event for the community.
